About our Contract Drafting Course

This online course is based on our prestigious Cambridge drafting course.

We know that you come from a legal system with a civil code and that most of the law relating to contracts in the UK and the USA comes from common law concepts.

This means that the law standing behind the vocabulary of contracts can be very different when drafting in English. Legal dictionaries are often unhelpful, because words such as ‘warranty’, ‘indemnify’, ‘fixed-charge’ and ‘meeting of creditors’ have no accurate translation into many other languages.

This course explains common law legal concepts in detail, as well as looking at the structure of a contract from the recitals through to the boilerplate clauses.

You will also have advice on accurate use of English in contracts to make sure no mistake results in cost to you or your client. There is also a best practice style guide for 2026, including dealing with archaic contract terms such as ‘hereby’ and ‘thereunder’, so that you know exactly what leading London law firms consider to be modern and precise contract drafting.

Certificate

You will be awarded an E-certificate from Cambridge Law Studio when you complete your online contract drafting course.
