What is LegalLingo?

LegalLingo is the Cambridge Law Studio distance learning program for international lawyers and law students who want to advance their ‘English for Commercial Law’ skills in their free time.

The complete online self-study program is a mix of short video lectures, our Cambridge textbooks, explanations of commercial legal vocabulary, the common law, and quizzes to test your understanding.

The program ends with a TOLES certificate in legal English, if you want to do the online exam in 2025/2026. You can choose when.

You will have access for one year, and the all-inclusive cost is £396.

What English level do I need?

LegalLingo is for lawyers and law students who already have an intermediate level of English and want to improve their commercial legal English.

It is not suitable for learners with lower levels of English, because it explains a lot about complex contract vocabulary, and includes lots of examples of extracts from commercial contracts.

You can find your starting level with our online test, and if your result is either ‘Higher’ or ‘Advanced’ you are good to go!

Our textbooks are available as PDFs, and you have our permission to print them. They total 427 pages of legal English, with exercises for you to do on almost every page.
